Already a foster carer? Is it time for a change? Why not transfer over to Bridgend Foster Care!
As a foster carer you have the freedom to choose who you work with so if you fancy a change and want to transfer over to Bridgend Foster Care, we can help you all the way, making the transition as easy as possible.
Well, as children are the care of the local authority, you are more likely to be used as we will only approach agencies if we can’t place a child in-house.
Transferring over is easier than you think!
If you don't currently have a placement; you need to give 28 days’ notice in writing to your existing fostering service. We can then request a reference from your existing fostering service.
If you have a child in placement whose home authority is Bridgend; then we can start the process of transferring straightaway.
If you have a child in placement whose home authority is elsewhere; you are still required to give 28 days’ notice to your existing fostering service. Bridgend Foster Care can then start the process by meeting with the looked after child's placing local authority.
Several foster carers have transferred over to Bridgend Foster Care. The reasons for this include:
Current agency not providing carers with placements
Poor matching in previous placements
Understand the importance of keeping children in local area
Reputation of the support services offered
Every transfer case is looked at individually and some can be completed sooner than others, depending on your situation. We will support you every step of the way and work with you to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
